Ubuntu is a powerful linux distribution based on the famous Debian. Nevertheless, Ubuntu comes with the most up to date software packages and it’s very easy to install and maintain. To put it bluntly, it is an easy Debian. I have tried Debian before, and I don’t consider it an operating system for the final desktop. It comes with a 2.4 kernel version, when now 2.6 is the current version. If you want the latest linux software running in a Debian, you must download the testing packages, which turn your box into an unstable situation. What’s more, Ubuntu is released every six months, while Debian every two or more years if things go well. Ubuntu is now my favourite linux distro, till I find one better.
