Linux Support

The Linux support is awesome these days. For example if you go to Ubuntu Forums and post a question you’ll get an answer in a few minutes. It’s true that sometimes you can’t get a satisfactory answer and you can’t get a solution for your problem, but do you know what’s going on in the windows world? There are by far more difficult problems, such as viruses, spyware, adware and lots more, something that does not affect Linux at all. That’s why I love Linux, because of its power, its community and its way of doing things. By far, the best operating system on earth.

WordPress awesome

I’ve only been using wordpress for two days and I consider it a perfect tool. It surpasses blogger from google by far. I have been able to import my blogger posts to wordpress. Absolutely impressive.

Internet Explorer under Ubuntu

Sometimes when surfing the net, I bump into web pages that only run under internet explorer, so I’ve installed it in Ubuntu Linux following the next steps:
Run synaptic and install wine and cabextract.

Then, install the package provided by http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/index-en.html

run tar -xzvf ies4linux-2.0beta9.tar.gz

cd ies4linux-2.0beta9/

./ies4linux and ask the questions. That’s all. When finished you’ll have an icon in the Desktop. You’ll be able to run ie as well by typing ~/bin/ie6

Catalonia?

Where is Catalonia? Catalonia is in the eastern part of Spain. If I say I live in Barcelona you’ll get a quick idea. Catalonia has its own language which is the Catalan language, my mother tongue and it is spoken by more than six million people. People who live in and is born in Catalonia is bilingual. They are able to speak both Catalan and Spanish.

What’s Ubuntu?

Ubuntu is a Linux based operating system. Currently is the most used Linux distribution according to DistroWatch (http://distrowatch.com/). I’m a great fan of this operating system. Its power and flexibility has no rival and it’s free to download and install. Ubuntu comes with an awesome quantity of software with a wide range of web browsers, email clients, office software and a lot more. Another interesting feature is that there’s a lot of documentation in the web to get up and running in less than half an hour. What’s more, Ubuntu has one of the most liveliest and collaborative forums in the web with an awesome quantity of users who answer your questions in a few minutes.
