Reading

June 17, 2006

Reading is quite important for everyday’s life. You need to absorve tons of information and if you can get into the point as quick as possible, then the better. If you read a lot, then you can acquire more knowledge and get the gist of a subject very quickly. That’s the main reason I should try to read a little bit more on a daily basis. The main problem I face is that it’s quite difficult to find good novels. Well, in fact, I have to cut to the chase, and choose those ones that are focused on the subjects I love, such as thrillers. I love thrillers, and I can’t stand novels which carry some sad dependency. That’s it!!!

A very sad story

June 11, 2006

This weekend a 46 year old man, Agustí Torrents, someone who is very well known in my town (St. Boi of Llobregat, Barcelona) has died in a nasty accident while hiking along the Pedraforca mountain. He was a very experienced mountaineer with a lot of success under his belt. But you never know where the danger lies, and in the most unexpected moment, it’s there to kill you. He just slipped while walking, and fall down a cliff. God bless you.

Proficiency exam from Cambridge

June 11, 2006

Next week, I am under a big pressure. I am attending the proficiency exam from Cambridge. It’s a real tough exam, and I’m not sure at all if I’m going to pass it. In any case, I’ll do all my best to accomplish a good result. In case I fail, in my own opinion it doesn’t matter, but it will be a major disappointment for some people who have trusted on me. Let’s see what’s going to happen.

installing flash player in dapper drake

June 3, 2006

If you want to install the flash plugin for firefox take into account that you should install the libflash-mozplugin package from synaptic. I have experienced a problem though. By installing the mentioned package, when I open a web page with macromedia content, firefox crashes. It just goes away. To work around this issue, I have desinstalled the mentioned package and I have downloaded the one provided by macromedia itself. Once I have downloaded the packaged named install_flash_player_7_linux.tar.gz, I have proceded like follows: tar -xzvf install_flash_player_7_linux.tar.gz then cd into it and sudo ./flashplayer-installer and when it says the installation path I have entered /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox (previously I have accepted all the questions by default). Open firefox again, and voila, it works like a charm!! Important: Firefox must be closed when installing the plugin. The installer warns you in case.
